Read a Qur’an day

I was disturbed to learn last night, about a pastor in Florida who is encouraging Christians to burn copies of the Qur’an on the anniversary of 9/11.

I don’t know how he considers that this is in any way a Christian attitude or a Christian act. It is racist fear-mongering at its very worst in my opinion and ought to be counted as a hate crime.

On the flip side of the coin, Dr James F. McGrath at Exploring Our Matrix has posted a counter call from Rev. Larry Reimer, minister at the United Church of Gainesville, Florida, for moderate Christians to make 9-11 “Read a Qur’an day” as a way of protesting Burn a Qur’an Day.

I’m going to take part in reading the Qur’an on this day and I encourage my friends and readers to do the same.

Read James F. McGrath’s post for more information.
